Open call – SNSF Project funding

Project funding is aimed at experienced researchers working in Switzerland who wish to obtain funding for a project of their own.

The grants cover direct costs such as salaries of collaborators, materials, travel as well as other expenses. The costs of publication in a purely Open Access journal as well as the production costs of scientific book publications that are digital and Open Access are also covered by the grant and must be requested when the project proposal is submitted.

  • For all researchers in Switzerland and at specific Swiss institutions abroad
  • Researchers need to show that they have successfully worked in research for at least two years since gaining their doctoral degree.
  • Deadline: October 1st and April 1st

Convocatoria – Programa de Becas L´ORÉAL-UNESCO

La Comisión Nacional de Cooperación con la UNESCO, L’Oréal Colombia, Colciencias e ICETEX abren por séptimo año consecutivo la convocatoria del Programa Nacional de Becas L´ORÉAL UNESCO “Mujeres para la Ciencia”, que premia anualmente a dos científicas colombianas.

La convocatoria está dirigida a estudiantes colombianas de doctorado o pos-doctorado entre los 25 y los 45 años de edad, residentes en Colombia,  vinculadas a entidades públicas o privadas y que se encuentren adelantando una investigación en las siguientes áreas: ciencias de la vida, ciencias agrarias, ciencias tecnológicas, química, física, ciencias médicas y matemáticas.

Open call – SNSF Mobility fellowships

These funding schemes are designed to  offer doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers the chance to carry out research at a host institute abroad.

Mobility fellowships for research work at a foreign institution include payment toward living costs and travel expenses and, in certain cases, expenses incurred by conducting research and attending conferences. The amount granted is based on the applicants’ family status and on the cost of living in the host country.

 

Doc.Mobility

  • For doctoral students
  • Duration: 6-18 months
  • Matriculated as a doctoral student for at least 12 months and at least 1 year of working experience at a research institution in Switzerland.

  • Duration: generally 18 months

  • For experienced postdocs
  • Duration: 12-36 months, possibility to include a return phase to Switzerland.
  • At least 1 year of postdoctoral research.

  • At least 3 years of working experience at a research institution in Switzerland
  • Deadline: August 1st and February 1st.

Este Macroproyecto, concebido para la implementación del Centro Regional de Investigación e Innovación en Bioinformática y Fotónica en Cali, es financiado por el Sistema General de Regalías  y ha sido identificado como uno de los proyectos de mayor impacto económico, social, ambiental y productivo para el Valle del Cauca y la Región Pacífico en el sistema mencionado.

Open call – Bianual Plan Univalle and EPFL

Univalle and EPFL have a long standing agreement to maintain and foster academic collaboration between research leaders of both institutions. 

 

The primary goal of this agreement is to support existing collaboration projects on the long term. As a secondary objective, it seeks the promotion of new projects, whenever these latter are embedded into a large and long standing effort to build a partnership between two or more partner group leaders. Within the framework of this agreement, the following calls for 2014-2015 are open:

  • Short duration internship (3 months) at the EPFL; aimed at teachers or postgraduate students from Univalle.
  • Short duration internship (3 months) at UNIVALLE; for students from the EPFL.
  • Support to visits of senior researchers of the two institutions in order to create, coordinate and strengthen collaboration on research projects
  • Opening: May 21st 2015
  • Deadline: day 15th of every month.

12:20 – 13:15 : Presentation on the career funding schemes of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) with a focus on the mobility fellowships: Doc.Mobility, Early Postdoc.Mobility and Advanced Postdoc.Mobility
13:20 – 14:00 : Presentation on Marie Sklodowska Curie fellowships for postdoctoral researchers – Individual Driven Actions (MSCA – IF) of the European funding programme Horizon2020: European Fellowship (EF) et Global Fellowship (GF).

Presentations will be in English, with slides in French for the SNSF part. Each presentation will be followed by questions & answers in both languages.

Open call – Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships

The goal of Individual Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers.

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) European and Global Fellowships offer funding for researchers on a postdoctoral level for a research stay (12-36 months). To be eligible researchers must have a least four years of full time research experience at the time of the call deadline and should not have spent more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the call deadline in the country of the future host institution.

Call for papers – Conference on The Pacific Alliance in a World of Preferential Trade Agreements

The Pacific Alliance (PA or the “Alliance”) has appeared as a new effort of regional integration in Latin America, which today includes Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.

One of the aims of this event is to analyse the achievements of the PA. In the lights of past efforts of regional integration around the world (NAFTA, ASEAN, EU, EAC, SADC, etc.) and in the Latin American region and with the objective of drawing lessons of such positive or  negative experiences, as useful input for the future steps in the development of the Alliance.

 

Open call – CODEV Seed Money Grants

For the current phase 2013-2016 period, EPFL has been asked to lead exploratory activities with Latin America aimed at establishing new strategic partnerships. Five countries, namely Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru stood out in the mapping study done in 2013, particularly because of the magnitude of their already existing collaborations with Switzerland and their potential in terms of increasing scientific and academic cooperation with Swiss scientists or institutions. The Seed Money Grant seeks to initiate or intensify research collaboration between Switzerland and the above mentioned countries.

The call is open to all scientists at federal and cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, universities of teachers’ education and public research institutions. The maximum granted amount per project is CHF 25,000.

Open call – FLASH Research Projects with India

The aim of the FLASH project is to enable scientists to study an external event of exceptional scope and nature

For the current phase covering 2013-2016, the SERI has entrusted EPFL with the task of expanding the existing scientific collaboration with India, and implementing new instruments for funding. The FLASH Research Programme is a new funding instrument that allows researchers to react quickly in case of exceptional events by setting up joint research projects between partners from India and Switzerland.
